The North Shore Spirit of B.C. has been about providing North Shore residents and visitors with an Olympic experience to remember, igniting our community pride and spirit -- and sharing it with the world! And we did it!
Spirit of B.C. committees were formed in communities throughout British Columbia to help develop benefits for local areas as we lead up to 2010. These committees provide residents with an influential and local point-of-contact with the Province and 2010 Legacies Now. There have been over 95 communities across B.C. which have Spirit of B.C. Committees.
So What's Next??
LEGACIES
One of the goals of our committee, under 2010 Legacies Now, is to help create and support legacies on the North Shore that will last well past the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The legacy of volunteerism continues, as collectively on all our projects have logged over 4,000 volunteers hours. We hope North Shore residents that volunteered for the many activities will want to continue to volunteer in our community.
On April 24th at Capilano Mall there will be a volunteer fair for those wishing to continue and find out more information.
The legacy of connection is one we hope will last for a very long time to come. People across the North Shore met other residents and visitors during this once-in-a-lifetime experience and who knows what these connections will mean for the future of our community?
The legacy of THE NORTH SHORE SPIRIT TRAIL is one which we will continue being involved with. As the North Shore Spirit of B.C. winds up it's mandate related to the Games, our Spirit Trail committee will continue to support and assist with this incredible legacy project.
This website will now be dedicated to the North Shore Spirit Trail and will be under construction.
