The 86-feet wide by 26-feet tall mural painting depicts the City and Squamish Nation, connected by the Spirit Trail and Stelmexw, the official trail logo. The elements are set against the distinctive outlines of the North Shore and happens to reflect the colours of the City logo, with purple mountains, green landscape, blue sky and winding trail.
Partnership
The Spirit Corner represents the City's commitment to establishing cooperative working relationships with members of the community.
Hesp Automotive, which occupies the building that features the mural painting, approached the City to find a creative solution to address a long-standing graffiti problem. The beautification project became an opportunity for the City to build upon its partnership with the Squamish Nation and collaborate with Hesp Automotive and international artist Jane Clark.
Financial contributions toward the project were provided by the City of North Vancouver, Hesp Automotive, North Shore Spirit of B.C., North Shore Credit Union, Squamish Nation, 2010 Legacies Now and Gulf Pacific Group.
